Tamil Wiki Online Encyclopedia is an online encyclopedia encompassing information on Tamil literature, art, and culture. Similar to Wikipedia, this system is continuously developed through reader contributions.
Origin
The notion to create a Tamil Wiki online encyclopedia was conceived on January 1, 2022. On February 10, 2022, web space was acquired for the site on behalf of the Vishnupuram Literary Circle and development work commenced. On May 7, 2022, the online encyclopedia went live with one thousand verified documents. Santhosh Narayanan created the logo.
Brenda Beck, a Canadian anthropologist and a pioneer in the study of Tamil folklore, inaugurated the wiki page on May 7, 2022, at Brambleton Middle School (Ashburn, VA ) in Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, United States. Thomas Pruiksma, who translated the Thirukkural into English, V.Venkataramanan, an expert in laser physics and a science writer in Tamil, and Sang Liu, the director of the Ashburn Library, were the chief guests. A. Muttulingam , David Shulman, Kamal Haasan, and Martha Ann Selby sent their congratulatory messages.
Name
Tamil Wiki is a continuously updated online encyclopedia that relies on reader participation. The pages are written and edited by a group of scholars then published. Tamil Wiki pages are improved through a series of ongoing discussions with readers. That is why this online encyclopedia is called Tamil Wiki.
Objective
Tamil Wiki is an online encyclopedia covering literature, art, and culture. Before publishing content, the editorial staff refines the language and verifies information. Reader contributions are sought in order to enhance and improve these articles. Its mission is to organize Tamil art, literature, cultural information, and activities for common usage.
Currently, the scope is culture and literature. Later, the scope will expand. The faculty will then consist of scholars from the respective department. No advertisements will be featured as it is a nonprofit organization. The information contained herein is public domain. Donations will only be accepted when necessary.

- Tamil Wiki is based on common knowledge principle. This content is not copyrighted. Only its title is copyrighted.
- Tamil Wiki operates in the common knowledge language. There is no distinct language policy regarding this.
- The topics to be included in the encyclopedia and their respective content will be determined by the general consensus of the editorial board.
- Contributions from readers are accepted. To compose and edit articles, readers are sought. Articles will be published following review.
- Tamil Wiki presents the generally recognized values developed through debates on modern Tamil literary tradition, which has more than a century of literary heritage. Here, all points of view are accommodated. Here, all viewpoints of discussions are included.
Tamil Wiki Thooran Award
Beginning in 2022, the Tamil Wiki Thooran Award will be presented annually to individuals under the age of fifty who have made significant contributions to literature and culture. This award is given in honor of Periyasamy Thooran, the creator of the Tamil encyclopedia
