K. Chandrasekaran

K. Chandrasekaran (1904 – August 28, 1988), son of Justice V. Krishnaswamy Iyer, was a Tamil writer and high court lawyer. He penned his fathers biography.

Birth

K. Chandrasekaran was born in 1904 to Justice V. Krishnaswamy Iyer and Balambal (Valambal). His sisters, K. Savitri Ammal and K. Saraswati Ammal, were both writers. He completed his schooling from P.S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore. He finished his MA course covering economics and history subjects, from Presidency College, Chennai. He studied law at Madras Law College.

Literary Life

K. Chandrasekaran mostly wrote in Kalaimagal magazine. His stories also appeared in Kalki and Anandavikatan magazines. He penned his father's biography V. Krishnaswamy Iyer and this was published by Kalaimagal publishers. He wrote mostly in Triveni Quarterly English magazine run by his friend K. Ramakoteeswara Rao.

Public Life

K. Chandrasekaran worked as an advocate in the Madras High Court. He continued to write in the Madras Law Journal run by his relative Narayanasamy Iyer. He succeeded Dr. V.V. Chaudhuri as editor of Indian Law Reports journal. However, he was not serious in his legal profession.

K. Chandrasekaran mostly managed the public organizations started by his father. He served as secretary of Madras Sanskrit College started by his father. He was one of the founders of Chennai Music Academy and was first Vice President.

• President of South Indian National Association
• Ranade Library Secretary
• One of the founders of Kalakshetra

Death

K. Chandrasekaran passed away on August 28, 1988.
