Tamizhprabha
Tamizhprabha (Pushparaj Prabhakaran) (born: 1986) is a novelist and screenwriter who writes in Tamil, using life in Chennai as his backdrop. Through his writing, Tamizhprabha portrays the sufferings of Chennai's oppressed Dalit communities as well as their cultural expressions and lived traditions.
Birth and education
Tamizhprabha was born in 1986 in Chintadripet, Chennai, to Pushparaj and Elizabeth. He completed his primary education at RBCC Middle School, Chintadripet, and his higher secondary education at Chintadripet Higher Secondary School. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Pachaiyappa's College.
Personal Life
Tamizhprabha married Divya in 2016. They have two daughters, Saral and Thogai. He initially worked in the accounting field. Later, after spending some time working at the magazine Ananda Vikatan, he became a full-time screenwriter.
Literary Life
Tamizhprabha's first work was the novel "Pettai." Written in 2017, the novel was published in 2018. Among the pioneers who influenced his literary creation, he cites Dostoevsky, Jack London, Tolstoy, Aadhavan, Thoppil Mohammed Meeran, Jeyamohan, and Imayam.
Literary Significance
Tamizhprabha writes about the language and culture of Chennai's working-class and marginalized communities using a realistic aesthetic. His style blends satire with critique. By portraying not only suffering but also celebration and resistance, he is regarded as an important contemporary voice in Tamil literature.
