Synopsis

The story takes place in a town called Punnaikayal near Nagercoil. Christian landlords oppress and exploit Christian people. Chellappa, who steals coconuts from Mettukudiyan's coconut grove due to poverty, is attacked by them. He attacks Mettukudian's son and goes into hiding while being chased by the police. His father Vedamani Vathiyar thinks his actions are sinful according to Christianity and later realizes that his actions are in line with what Christianity preaches.

Literary Place

It is a novel with an artificial plot that seems like propaganda. Isaac Arumairasan, who tried to connect Christianity and Communism, paved the way for the Liberation Theology that later developed.
