Thirukural Lady Zamindar Commentary (Thirukural Depalangaram) (928-1929) A commentary on Thirukural written by Lady Zamindar of Marungapuri Zamin Her Highness K.S.V.Lakshmi Ammal.It is considered the first commentary on Thirurukkual written by a woman.
History
Thirukural Depalangaram was written by K.S.V. Lakshmi Ammal. on 1928 and published on 1929. It was printed at Sadhu Printing Press, owned by Thiru.V..kalyanasundara Mudaliyar. After a long interval it was republished by Saratha publications
Evaluation
Thirukural Depalangaram was published with a lot of forewords from senior Tamil scholars of that period. Umamahesvanara, Na.Mu.Vengktasami Nattar, Pandit Asalambigai , Dr.Muthulakshmi Reddy , Ra. Ragavaiyangar are the foremost among them.
K.S.V.Lakshmi Ammal’s commentary on Thirukural is considering it as a Hindu text, it includes later period myths on Thiruvalluvar as preface. This book is considered as the first book on Thirukural written by a woman.
