17th song of Kuruntokai was sung by Karuvoor Kizhar and it is a Kurinji Thinai song (minor genre). It comes under the portion "Thalaivan Varaividaivaithu Pirintha Kalathil Avanathu Pirivai Yattralenak Kavalaiyuttra Thozhikku, 'Thalaivanathu Natpu Kedathenbathai Yaan Arinthullen; Palar Thamakku Thondriyavattrais Solluvaar. Athanaal Yaan Uruthi Neengen' Endru Thalaivi Kuriyathu". We can understand the fact an Aquatic Plant is preferred by Elephants, the flower of that Plant blossoms in cluster at the top.
