While studying at Hindu College, Isaac Arumairasan got into Literary world with the inspiration of Professor S. Subramaniam and Nagercoil Christ Church Pastor V.D. Sagayam encouraged him to write. In 1970, Isaac Arumairasan wrote his first poetic play 'Mullaimaadam', his short stories were published in magazines like ''[[அணில்|Anil]], Anna, Kannadasan, Deepam'' and ''[[தாமரை (இதழ்)|Tamarai]]''. Isaac Arumairasan won a prize for his story 'Kakkaikkoodu' written in ''Kannadasan'' magazine.
