Akaramudhalvan (August 11, 1992) is an author who writes fictional stories. He works in the film industry. He was born in Sri Lanka; currently lives in India. He uses Eelam as the backdrop in his works.
Birth, Education
Akaramudhalvan was born on August 11, 1992, in Pallai, Kilinochchi District, Sri Lanka, to Sundaralingam and Jayajyothi. He has studied in Jaffna (Saiva Sanmarga Sangam), Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and many other places. Since he was born during wartime, he kept moving places.
Personal Life
He married Jayaprabha on August 27, 2018. He has a son, Athiran. He works in the film industry, and he is also a full-time writer.
Literary Life
Akaramudhalvan's first work was a poem published in 2000. Poet Kasi Ananthan, poet Puthuvai Ratnathurai, poet Ambuli, poet Kasthuri, writer Adilakshmi Sivakumar, Malaimagal, M. Thalayasingam and, Shanmugam Sivalingam are pioneers who influenced literary works.
‘The characters in my stories bear the repercussions of breaking away from the lies of the three-decade-long armed liberation struggle of the Tamil people’ mentions Akaramudhalvan. He also mentions that this is the purpose of his fictional stories.
Literary Significance
Akaramudhalvan, born and raised in Sri Lanka, settled in Tamil Nadu, narrates the plight of Eelam refugees and the history of the Eelam struggle through incidents from his personal life in fictionalised ways. As an author, he talks about Eelam politics and the Eelam literary tradition. "Akaramudhalvan's stories transmit their pain to us. The Indian mind chooses to look away from the Tamil Eelam problem like maggots in a flesh wound. Akaramudhalvan's depiction of the Tamil Eelam life makes us feel like the maggot and the wound too", says Nanjilnadan.
