Ulagammaiammal (19th Century C.E.) was a Tamil poet and Sitrilakiyam (minor literary) poet. Ulagammaiammal's major work was Sivagnanap Padalgal (Songs of Siva - Divine Knowledge).
Private Life
Ulagammaiammal was born in 1856 to Kuppaiyandipillai at Vannikonandhal in Tirunelveli district. Ulagammaiammal kept in mind the six-letter mantra 'Om Saravanabhava' preached by an elderly person came from Kallidaikurchi mutt. Her parents married off Ulagammaiammal to Kalugumalai Adinarayanan Pillai. After twelve years of married life, her husband passed away and Ulagammaiammal took up a life of asceticism.
Spiritual Life
Ulagammaiammal made a spiritual journey to Kasi. Ulagammaiammal received the blessings from Kuruvikkulam Vedanayaka Adigal at Sindhupoonthurai and Ayakudi Paramasiva Adigal in Tenkasi taluk.
Literary Life
Ulagammaiammal composed twelve volumes of songs comprising Virutham, Venba, Kanni and Isaipadal (opus). These were compiled and printed as a collection titled Sivagnanap Padalgal in 1914.
