Ramya
Ramya (Ramya Raja Kumar) (born November 10, 1990) is a Tamil writer. She is a fiction writer, editor of Neeli e-magazine, founder of Neeli Publishing House. She is also a contributor of Tamil articles in the Tamil Wiki, an online Encyclopedia.
Birth, Education
Ramya was born on November 10, 1990, to Rajakumar and Radharukmani in Srivilliputhur, Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu. She has an younger sister.
She completed her primary education at Sermathaaivasan Matriculation School in Srivilliputhur. She completed her secondary education at St. Anne's Girls' Higher Secondary School in Aruwankadu, Nilgiris district. She graduated with B.Tech degree in Ceramic Technology from Alagappa Chettiar College of Technology, Anna University, Chennai.
Personal Life
Ramya married Pravin on August 17, 2018. She worked as a software engineer in Chennai from 2013-2015. Since 2020, she has been working in the Commercial Tax and Registration Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Editorial
Ramya is the editor-in-chief of Neeli magazine, that introduces women in art, literature, and culture, and publishes critical essays on women's works, since August 2022. Through this, she promotes discussions and conversations around women's creations and contributions. She runs the magazine along with friends.
Publishing
She founded Neeli Publishing House in 2025 with the aim of creating a solid body of knowledge for Tamil women's writing in serious literature. The first book of this publishing house is "Vindhya Enum Theetral", a collection of selected short stories by writer Vindhya.
Literary Life
Ramya was introduced to modern Tamil literature through writer Jeyamohan. As a reader, she has written many letters to Writer Jeyamohan, which were published in his website. Her first short story, Neelathavani, was published in Vanam magazine in March 2022. Her first book, a collection of short stories, Neelathavani and Other Stories, was published by Yavarum Publications in 2024. She continues to write short stories and literary criticism.
