Pattabirama Iyer

Pattabirama Iyer (Pattabiramaiyyar) (1863) was a Carnatic musician from Nineteenth (19th) century. He had written many compositions as Javalis (songs set for dance).
Personal Life
He was born in Thiruppanandal from Tanjore district. He started working as Gumasta (termed formed for Agent during British/East India regime). His musical skills had earned him a job at Mysore Maharaj Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar's court.
Music Work
Pattabirama Iyer had 'Thalavan (Talam - Panai)' as mudra in his keerthanas (devotional songs). Inspired by Muthuswamy Dikshitar's usage of English Notes, he also created similar Javalis under the name of Thalavan.
Pattabirama Iyer's Javalis were discovered through the L P Records of singers like Kanchipuram Dhanakodi Ammal, Coimbatore Thai, Bangalore Nagarathnammal etc.
One of his Tamil Keerthanam 'Vandarulvai Sundari Manimuthu Nee' has Nine (9) stanza and is set to Hindustani Behag, Adi Talam.
