Sooravazhi (1939) was a Literary Magazine found by K.N. Subramaniam and was co-edited by the Manikodi writer KR. Gopalan. It was as a Weekly Magazine, which ran for a year and targeted general public outside the scope of literary world.
History
The first issue of Sooravazhi Magazine was published on April 23, 1939. It contained 64 pages and was designed in the dimension of 'Crown'. ‘Sooravazhi’ came out every Sunday and was launched to take advantage of the reading wave created in the wake of the 1939 independence uprising. In total twenty magazines were published, the last of which came out on October 15, 1939. K.N. Subramaniam intended to run this as an 'Intermediate' magazine, which failed on its business grounds.
