Since he was a child, he was fascinated by Thiruvasagam and Vallalar. He changed his name to Kadarkarai to remove any religious identification. Suntharasugan magazine from Tanjore published his first work. He started out as a poet, then became intrigued by pioneer journalist, A.K. Chettiar's works and continued to research his contributions. After collecting and reading his works, he realized that many of them hadn't been published properly, so he compiled and consolidated them. He spent nine years in the archives department as a part-timer to continue his research towards compilation. He left his job from the magazines to dedicatedly work on the research.
