Arunmozhinangai (March 6, 1970) is a critic and writer. She received recognition widely for writing biographical articles in literary standards on her blog. Collection of these articles was published as a book titled Paṉi Uruguvathillai (Snow does not melt).

Private Life

Birth

Arunmozhinangai was born on March 6, 1970 to Sargunam and Saroja. Her native place is Pullamangalam village near Thiruvarur in Thanjavur district. Both parents are teachers. Her paternal grandfather Ramachandran Pillai was also a teacher and received the Best Teacher Award.

Education

Literature and music were introduced to Arunmozhinangai at a very young age. She was then in Tiruvarur. She grew up in Pattukottai and completed her Bachelor's degree from Madurai Agricultural College.

Marriage

Arunmozhinangai got married to writer Jeyamohan in 1991. Theirs was a love marriage and they have two children: Ajithan and Chaitanya.

Job

Arunmozhinangai joined the Central Government service in Dharmapuri in 1993. Later she worked in Nagercoil and took voluntary retirement.

Literary Interest

Arunmozhinangai is passionate about literature and music. She is also interested in travel. She travelled to Europe, USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. She also travels across India every year.

Arunmozhinangai's literary ideals are Pudhumaipithan, Ashokamitharan, Sundara Ramasamy, Jayakanthan and A. Muthulingam in Tamil,  Vaikom Mohammed Basheer, S.L. Bhyrappa, Sivarama Karanth, Tara Shankar Banerjee and Atin Bandyopadhyay in Indian literature and, Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikos Kazantzakis, Hermann Hesse and Gabriel García Márquez in world literature. Her husband, Writer Jeyamohan is very intimate and Guru to her.

Literary Significance

Arunmozhinangai's feminist review on writer Sundara Ramasamy's novel Kuḻanthaigaḷ Peṇgaḷ Aṇgaḷ (Children, Women Men) received good attention. However, she did not continue to write. After her retirement, she published articles on her blog regularly exploring her youthful life. These articles received readers acceptance widely. In Tamil, this style of feminist writing was regarded as a new kind of literary creation with rich layer of subtle details. Collection of these articles as a book titled Paṉi Uruguvathillai (Snow does not melt) is regarded as an exemplary work and notable among non-fiction literary genres.
