Genesis
Poet Kumaraguruparan passed away on June 19, 2016. கவிஞர் குமரகுருபரன் ஜூன் 19,2016-ல் மறைந்தார். அவர் பெயரால் ஓர் இலக்கியவிருது வழங்கவேண்டும் என்று அவருடைய நண்பர் கவிதா சொர்ணவல்லி விரும்பியதன் பேரில் இவ்விருது ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது. 2017 முதல் இவ்விருது வழங்கப்படுகிறது. நாற்பது வயதுக்கு உட்பட்ட இளங்கவிஞர்களுக்கான விருது இது. விஷ்ணுபுரம் இலக்கிய வட்டம் இவ்விருதை வழங்குகிறது.
Award
The award consists of a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/- and a honorary momento sculpture. The award felicitation ceremony is conducted in Chennai on the 10th of June every year to coincide with the birthday of the poet Kumaraguruparan. The prize amount is increased to Rs. 1 lakh from the year 2023.
