Perundevi (May 19, 1966) writes modern poetry in Tamil. She is interested in the anti-poetry movement and writes aesthetic theories about poetry. Her research interests are in the fields of sociology and politics.

Perundevi was born on May 19, 1966 for Srinivasan and Seetha, in Tanjavur. She did her early education in Tiruvarur and Madurai; continued her higher secondary education in Government Girls High school, Thirupapuliyur and in Government Girls High school, T.Nagar (Chennai).
Perundevi (born May 19, 1966) is a poet who writes modern poetry in Tamil. She has a strong interest in the anti-poetry movement. She writes on aesthetic theories related to poetry and also engages in sociological and political research.
Perundevi completed her B.Sc Chemistry in Kandaswami Naidu College for women, Cuddalore ; M.Sc Chemistry in Annamalai University, Chidambaram. She did M.A Women's Studies in Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal and M.A Theology in George Washington University, Washington.
 
She continued her M.Phil in Theology and received her doctorate in from George Washington University (through the fields of theology, cultural anthropology, and feminism).

Perundevi's first work was an untitled poem published in 1995 in ''Navina Virutcham'' magazine. First work of fiction was a short story titled ‘''Pen Vedamitta Pen that got published in Munril magazine.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from C.Kandaswami Naidu College for Women, Cuddalore, and a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. She later obtained a Master’s degree in Women’s Studies from Mother Teresa Women’s University, Kodaikanal, and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies from George Washington University, Washington, D.C., USA.
She feels that, her works are influenced by Puthumaipithan, Asokamitran, Atmanam, Emily Dickinson, Rilke, Charles Bukowski and Nicanor Parra.

She received an M.Phil. in Anthropology from The George Washington University, Washington, D.C. She earned her Ph.D. through interdisciplinary research spanning the departments of Religious Studies, Cultural Anthropology, and Women’s Studies at George Washington University.
Perundevi was fascinated by post-modern and post-colonial thinking. She is an analyst of literature through academic research methods. She continues to write on sociology, politics and feminism. Through her writing, she continues to influence the thinking process of Tamil literary world.
 
By bringing in Nicanor Parra’s anti-poetry movement to Tamil, she created an ongoing discussion in poetic aesthetics.
