U.Ve.Sa. Viruthu (2012) is one of the annual awards given by the Tamil Development Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. Since 2012, this award has been given in memory of [[.வே.சாமிநாதையர்|U.V. Saminathaiyer]]. This award is given as an appreciation for the services of Tamil scholars who have been working hard to find and uncover inscriptions, excavations, leaf prints, rare manuscripts, available books etc. to enrich Tamil. The award carries a prize money of one lakh rupees, an eight gram gold medal and a certificate of merit.
