Susanna Emilia (Emily) Addis was a teacher in the first English school in Coimbatore. She was the wife of the school’s founder, William Bawn Addis.

Birth

Susanna was born on 2 August 1808 in Chennai, India to Tamericus Carolus van Someren.

Personal Life

Susanna married William Bawn Addis, a London Mission pastor. They had two children, Henry Bawn Addis and William Judson Addis. Willian Judson Addis became a pastor of the London Mission.

Susanna was the first teacher in the Vernacular School, founded by the London Mission Society in 1831 at Marakkadai, Coimbatore . She ran it with her husband Rev. William Bawn Addis.
