Sangu (Quarterly Literary Magazine)

Sangu is a Quarterly Literary Magazine based at Kadaloor District - Tamilnadu, found by Writer Valava. Duraiyan in the year of 1968 and has been running for more than 50 years.

Publication History

Valava. Duraiyan became interested in literary manuscripts during his childhood days and started a magazine called 'Kathaikothu', which ran until his High School days. Upon the completion of his school days, through Valavanur AR. Rasaaraman and Thirukuratkalagam, Sangu Literary Magazine was found in the year of 1968 as a manuscript. During his time working as a Teacher in Krishnapuram, he befriended a Math Teacher named Sivalingam. Sivalingam's expertise in painting and interest in literature helped the magazine's manuscript to have colorful drawings. The magazine was using early printing methods including Hand printing, Laser printing and became an officially printed magazine with 40 pages on its 100th edition.

Literary Contributions

Sangu magazine included the works and interviews of some of the most renowned literary personalities including Nangil Nadan, Paavannan, Devadevan, Nila. Padmanaban, Kalaapriya, Vikramaathiyan, Ponneelan, Anbaathavan, C. Mahendran, Pazhamazhai, SSRC, Murugesa Pandiyan, S. Sankaranarayanan, Iraiyadiyaan, Subrabarathi Manina, Keeranur Zaheerraja, M. Murugesh, A. Rajja.

Poetry Competition

Sangu magazine conducts a Poetry competition for its Cover Photo every quarter, which is quite unique.
