Hithakarini (1909-1915) was a Tamil magazine from the early days. This was the first magazine to have a woman editor, Pandit Visalatchiammal.

History

Novelist Visalatchiammal was an associate editor in Logobakari magazine. Nataraja Iyer was the editor. After his death Vaidhyanatha Iyer became the editor. Within a year differences developed between him and Visalatchiammal. So she left Logobakari and started her own magazine Hithakarini. She also started Gnanachandrika,  a spiritual magazine from the same Hithakarini press. Hithakarini was published until 1915.
