Henry Irwin

Henry Irwin (1841 - 1922) was a British architect. He designed many buildings in India during British rule which were classified as Indo-Saracenic architecture. He was a member of Civil Engineering society. He received Queen Victoria birthday honors in 1888.

Life

Henry Irwin was the eldest son of Henry Irwin (senior), a priest in an Anglican Church, Ireland. His father was an Archdeacon in Elfin. Henry Irwin had three younger brothers and two younger sisters. He joined Indian public works in 1886. Most of the time he worked in South India.
