Azhagiya Thiruchitrambala Adigal was born in Makala Elandurai , Thiru Ambar Makalam located in southern bank of river Cauvery. He belongs to the Sozhiya Vellalar caste.

At a young age, he joined Dharmapuram Aadheenam as a student of Thiruvambala Desikar and was initiated by him. He took charge as an eighth Sannidhanam of Dharmapuram Aadheenam. By the order of Thiruvambala Desikar, he established a monastery at Sorkkapuram. Babu Saheb Egaji donated lands for this monastery. The queen of Thanjavur Gajanabai and King Serfoji II visited the monastery in 1737, worshiped and gave grants.
