After learning Thalam (Rhythmic pattern used to help with time signature in music) from his first guru Nadaswara Vidhwan Rajasekaran, Jeeva learned Thavil from Sholavaram Nathan in a traditional gurukul setting(where student lives with and learns from the guru). Jeeva then studied under Vedaranyam Balasubramaniam for three years from 2006 to 2009, passed with distinction and received the title of 'Vadhya Visaratha'. He continued to learn from his guru Vedaranyam Balasubramaniam for another year, again under gurukul method. In 2011, he studied a one-year diploma course called 'Isai Selvam' (Musical Wealth) at the Raja Annamalai Mandram in Chennai.

Jeeva has been performing in various concerts in Tamil Nadu and USA. He plays Thavil along with Adyar G Silambarasan in a program called 'ACQ - A Carnatic Quartet', curated by Violin artist Shreya Devnath. Devnath (Violin), Mylai M Karthikeyan(Nadaswaram) and Praveen Sparsh(Mridangam) are the other players in that program.
