Oor Venpa is one of the Tamil Sitrrilakiyam (minor literary) works. Prabandham is the Sanskrit word for Sitrrilakiyam. The poems composed for praising the hero (paatudaith thalaivan) in ninety, seventy or fifty Nerisi Venpas are known as Nerisai. The poems composed on his home-coming are known as Oor Nerisai. The poem which sings for the prosperity of the town with his arrival, is known as Oor Venpa.
