Oor Nerisai comes under the category of Tamil Sitrilakiyam. The Sanskrit equivalent word for Sitrilakiyam is Prabandham. If the name of the poem’s male protagonist (Paatudai Thalaivan) is sung with 90, 70 or 50 Nerisai Venpa(a form of classical Tamil poetry), then it is called Oor Nerisai.[1][2]
