Suneel Krishnan is a Tamil short story writer and novelist. He is an Ayurvedic physician and a neo-Gandhian. He is a recipient of the Yuvapuraskar Award for Literature from the Kendriya Sahitya Akademi.

Personal Life

Suneel Krishnan was born on 6.4.1986 in Karaikal, Pondicherry to Dr.Ramachandran and Ramadevi. His hometown is Arimalam in Pudukkottai district.

He completed his secondary education at Kottaiyur Muthiah Alagappa Matriculation High School near Karaikudi. He completed his Bachelors in Ayurveda at Sri Sairam Ayurvedic Medical College in West Tambaram.

Suneel Krishnan married Dr.Manasa on 23-5-2013. They have a son Sudhir Chandran and a daughter Sabarmati. He practices Ayurveda in Karaikudi.

Literary life

Suneel's first short story, Vasudevan, was published on August 4, 2013. Suneel mentions that he is influenced by Writers Jeyamohan, Yuvan Chandrasekhar, A.Muttulingam and Ashokamithran.

Suneel Krishnan's first novel Neelakandam was published in 2019. The novel explores various aspects of Fertility - tradition, rituals, religion, psychology, and medicine. The novel was hailed by critics as a success in portraying a fundamental problem of man.

He has authored several short stories, anthologies and novels under the pseudonym Naroba.

Marappachi Literary Circle

Suneel Krishnan founded "Marappachi Literary Circle" which organizes literary gatherings in Karaikudi on Sundays every month since January 2019. Notable writers Nanjil Nadan, Sureshkumara Indrajith, Devi Bharathi, Perundevi, Keeranur Jagir Raja, Uma Maheshwari, Bogan Shankar, S. Senthilkumar, Samraj and Suresh Pradeep have participated in them.

Gandhi Today

Gandhi Today is the go-to website in Tamil for all articles related to Gandhi, Gandhian thought and Gandhians. During Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement in 2011, Writer Jeyamohan wrote several articles in support of Anna Hazare on his website. Those articles were seeded to create 'Gandhi Today' in 2012. Suneel Krishnan runs the website. Suneel has translated Gandhi along with like minded friends. Suneel Krishnan has translated many articles on Gandhianism and they were published in this website.
